On 28th August, Dr. Sudhir Rasal — a renowned Marathi literary critic and scholar — was evaluated at our clinic. A former professor at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Dr. Rasal is celebrated for his significant contributions to literary theory and criticism. He has been honoured with several prestigious awards, including the Sahitya Akademie Award (2024) for his book Vindanche Gadyarup, and the Marathi Language Scholar Award from the Government of Maharashtra.

Recently, Dr. Rasal was diagnosed with severe Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) and sub-foveal atrophy, which significantly impacted his vision and made it difficult for him to continue reading. He was referred to our Low Vision Clinic, where a 5.0-inch portable digital magnifier was dispensed to assist with his reading. With the aid of this device, Dr. Rasal was once again able to read comfortably and expressed great satisfaction at regaining his ability to engage with written text.

We were deeply honoured to welcome Padma Shri Dr. Tatyarao Lahane, one of India’s most respected ophthalmic surgeons and former Dean of J.J. Hospital, Mumbai, to Dr. Gogate’s Eye Clinic on 24th May 2025. Dr. Lahane is renowned globally for performing a record number of cataract surgeries and for his dedication to making quality eye care accessible to all. His contribution to preventive blindness and community eye health has inspired generations of doctors and healthcare professionals.

During his visit, Dr. Lahane sirappreciated the facilities and ongoing work at our clinic and shared his valuable insights and encouragement with our team. His presence was truly motivating and reinforced our commitment to serving patients with compassion, skill, and excellence. We are grateful for his time and for the opportunity to learn from such an inspiring leader in the field of ophthalmology.
